Manchester United transfer news LIVE Man Utd vs Wolves team news:
Manchester United will return to action today buoyed by the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo this week.
Ronaldo won’t play at Wolves this afternoon, but is bound to be the topic on everyone’s lips at Molineux after sealing a sensational return to United on Friday.
It seemed on Thursday that the 36-year-old was set to cross enemy lines and join fierce rivals Manchester City as the Blues became open to the idea after losing out on Harry Kane.
But interventions from Sir Alex Ferguson and several current and former players helped sway Ronaldo’s decision and the club swooped in to bring him home.
United have agreed a deal worth €28million with Juventus to sign the Portuguese, which is subject to personal terms, a visa and a medical.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will give his verdict on Ronaldo’s signing for the first time when facing questions before and after the Wolves fixture, with United looking to bounce back from last week’s draw at Southampton.

United stance on Dalot and Trippier transfers
Diogo Dalot is likely to remain a Manchester United player beyond Tuesday’s transfer deadline, and thus a deal for Kieran Trippier is unlikely.
United have held an interest in England full-back Trippier throughout this summer’s transfer window, but have been unwilling to meet Atletico Madrid’s lofty valuation of a player who is 31 and out of contract next summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to get more competition at right-back this season in the United side, but MEN Sport understand that is now likely to be provided by Dalot.
Reports on Saturday suggested an agreement had been met between United and Borussia Dortmund for the Portuguese, with the German giants among those linked with Dalot. But it’s understood that isn’t the case and Dalot should now stay at Old Trafford.
When United could confirm Ronaldo squad number
Manchester United’s megastore are refusing to print Cristiano Ronaldo’s name on shirts this weekend, but there could be an announcement coming.
Staff at the Old Trafford store have told customers they won’t be printing Ronaldo’s name until Tuesday — suggesting United could officially reveal the number before then.
The squad number Ronaldo gets in his second stint at United has been the subject of intense scrutiny. Edinson Cavani currently wears the iconic No.7 shirt that Ronaldo wore in his first Old Trafford spell and, under Premier League rules, wouldn’t be able to change after United already submitted their squad list.
Numbers 12 and 15 are among those available to Ronaldo, with new signings this summer Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane taking the numbers 25 and 19 respectively.
Cristiano Ronaldo ‘Welcome to Manchester’ sign appears
It’s 12 years since Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United, and it’s also 12 years since Manchester City’s iconic ‘Welcome to Manchester’ sign appeared in the city.
The billboard was put up after Carlos Tevez’s controversial transfer from United to City, depicting a celebrating Tevez with his arms outstretched on a sky blue background with the now-infamous caption.
Naturally, United fans loved the fact that they beat City to signing Ronaldo, and it’s not taken long for the ‘Welcome to Manchester’ billboard to be recreated.
In fact, only hours after the deal was announced, an advert with the famous phrase has appeared in Manchester Piccadilly train station in the city centre — but this time with Ronaldo celebrating a goal and a red background.
