Eagles vs Patriots live broadcast: After a week of joint training camp practices with the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles will play host for the team’s second preseason game on Thursday night.
(Reminder if you’re attending: The city issued a new mask mandate, so you’ll want to review HERE what that means for those trekking to Lincoln Financial Field.)
We saw a little bit of what the Eagles will look like under new head coach Nick Sirianni last week against the Steelers, and despite a pretty good first half showing from the ones and twos, even Sirianni the second-half was sloppy — no one’s going to argue with him there. Still, it was just a preseason game, and there were plenty of positives to take away from a game that started with more than a few unknowns.
Sirianni was non-committal about how much playing time starters would get on Thursday, and is still hoping to keep a lot of the team’s scheme off film prior to the start of the regular season. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was in for 10 snaps in the first preseason game and will likely get a series or two to stay fresh against the Patriots, but it might still be some time before we see rookie DeVonta Smith on the field.
As the team begins making roster cuts, Thursday’s game, and next week’s final preseason game, will go a long way for the guys further on the depth chart to either cement their place on the 53-man roster or at least garner interest from one of the other 31 NFL teams.
